My reaction:
According to JAMES FLANIGAN’s “Software That Opens Worlds to the Disabled”, he showed us a new system for the public but special for the vision or physical disabled.
I saw the topic about the disabled and it raised my interest to take a look of what the author’s view toward the subject. What the major center the concerned about was what and how they could do for the disabled. There is a engineer working for NASA preparing a project called “Project:Possibility”, and he created a chance for the people who seemed not so similar as the normal people. The effort is centered at the University of Southern California and led by volunteers who were willing to devote themselves to help the people who could not do what we normal human could do.
In 2007, they organized a competition called “Code for a Cause” in which 25 students in five teams engaged in a weekend of intense computer code-writing this program even attract the high executive of google &Microsoft. They are the people who gather simultaneously and never bear the thought of wasting time or something discriminating the disabled.
Without revenue and without pay for participants. Its programs belong to the nonprofit project and to the University of Southern California. Its sole source of financing was a $15,000 grant in early 2008 from the Mozilla Foundation. They are charitable company that donate to support the campaign and to raise a foundation for the minor group.
